Although ants can be bothersome, if you use a few simple ideas, you can get rid of ants and keep them from entering the home once again. The strong smell is one that ants don’t like and try to avoid. You can put half a teaspoon in warm water, soaking cotton balls in the mixture before putting them in areas where you have seen ants. Ground cinnamon can also be placed at points in the home where ants have been seen entering and leaving.
You’ve probably opened a bottle of vinegar and wanted to step away from it as soon as you took a whiff. Ants have the same reaction. They can’t tolerate the smell of vinegar, especially apple cider vinegar. Mix equal parts of water and vinegar in a spray bottle, spraying areas where ants have been seen. You might have to repeat this process once a day until you no longer see ants in the home.
This is a product that your grandparents probably used to keep all kinds of insects away. Put a small amount in a plastic bottle cap, and put the cap in a place where ants frequent. Keep the product away from pets and children as it can be toxic.
